Part 3 of 10 in the Be Battle Ready Series.
Read Ephesians 6:10-20
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. (Ephesians 6:13 NLT)
To be a battle-ready believer, you must put on every piece of the armor of God.
Would you expect a football player take the field without all of his gear? If you witnessed some players on the field without helmets and other lacking shoulder pads, you would probably wonder what is going on. What are they thinking? Don’t they know this is a contact sport? They’re bound to get hit during on the gridiron, right? However, many Christians walk through life without putting their armor on. We are playing for higher stakes than the Vince Lombardi trophy!
It is inevitable. Satan and his cohorts are going to attack you. However, God has provided every piece of equipment needed to stand firm against the enemy’s advances. Before we focus on the individual parts of the armor, I wanted to emphasize the importance of how all of the items work together for our protection. For example, what good would a helmet do if our bodies were left exposed? Yes, I head would be protected, but the adversary would merely modify his tactics. To be battle-ready, you MUST put on the full armor of God not some of it.
Suggestion for Prayer:
Thank God for giving you all that you need to withstand the attacks of the enemy. Ask God, as we study each piece of armor to reveal to you if anything is lacking in your preparation.
Read James 4:1-10.
