Part 7 of 10 in the Be Battle Ready Series
Read Ephesian 6:10-20
In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. (Ephesians 6:15 NLT)
To be a battle-ready believer, you must stand behind the shield of faith.
Fiery arrow of accusations will come at the follower of Jesus! Satan is the accuser of the brethren (Rev 12:10). He will call you ugly. He will call you worthless. He will say you are not good enough. He will even make you question your salvation! He is a master at hurling arrows of accusation. The battle-ready believer must shield themselves with faith.
How can you defend from these attacks? By standing behind the safety provided by the shield of faith. Faith is built by hearing the word of God. Paul writes, “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” (Rom 10:17 NLT) This shield of faith is utilized when we stand behind (or on if you like) what God says about us, instead of Satan’s lies. For example, I struggled with low self-esteem issues about my physical appearance because of mean things that were spoken by others in my formative years. However, I had to find shelter and refuge in what God’s word says about me. The Psalmist writes, “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” (Psa 139:14 NLT – Emphasis added) God says I am wonderfully and marvelously created in His image! To use the shield of faith, you must rest in what only God says about you.
Suggestion for Prayer:
Thank God for giving us the shield of faith. Ask Him to reveal any areas your have listened to accusations of the enemy.
